The Skin's Multi-Lamellar Structure and the Maltese Cross

When the multi-lamellar structure of the lipids between corneocytes is observed under a polarizing microscope, a distinctive cross-shaped pattern known as the Maltese cross appears.

01Core Technology I

Pseudoceramide Technology

Pseudoceramides are lipid ingredients developed in-house by NEOPHARM to resemble natural ceramides in structure and function. In formulations, they form a lamellar (liquid-crystal) structure designed to resemble intercellular lipid organization, helping maintain moisture and reduce moisture loss — one of NEOPHARM's core proprietary technologies.

A three-part combination of Core (Ceramide 9S·9SP), Boost (Ceramide 5SP) and Linker (Omega-Ceramide-16) — NEOPHARM's proprietary ceramide system designed to support a skin-like lamellar structure.

MLE®, Our Proprietary Skin-Barrier Formulation

MLE® is a patented multi-lamellar formulation technology using pseudoceramides to closely resemble the intercellular lipid structure of the stratum corneum. It helps maintain moisture while supporting the distribution of cosmetic ingredients within the stratum corneum.
